Description: The iNEST Project aims to define a new paradigm for the North-East Innovation Ecosystem, based on:

  • multi-specialization;
  • the ability to generate added value through an integrated and interconnected approach, overcoming the risks of fragmentation;
  • network creation, with a partnership-based approach.

Key tools for developing this new paradigm are:

  • information and communication technologies (ICT) and digitalization;
  • innovative technologies for people’s well-being, the dissemination of culture, and economic and entrepreneurial growth.

TESAF role: Affiliated partner - Spoke 1 Ecosystems for Mountain Innovations
Scientific Responsible Prof. Lorenzo Picco

The objective of the Spoke is to encourage the development of new products, processes, and lifestyles capable of consolidating and supporting local traditions that ensure the survival and demographic vitality of mountain areas from every perspective (economic, environmental, and social).

This will be pursued through a twofold strategy:
a) enhancing the strengths of mountain resources (extensive agro-forestry-pastoral activities, thriving tourism in unique environmental ecosystems, biodiversity, multiculturalism, and local traditions), and
b) addressing the main risks that are particularly significant in these contexts (fragmentation and security of production systems, complex logistics, hydrogeological risks, and reduced quality of life).

Broad use will be made of interdisciplinary approaches to promote technology transfer actions based on ICT and smart digitalization, sustainability, circular economy, and social research
