Brief description: The project aims to demonstrate the efficacy of a vineyard management model addressed to sustainability and, particularly, to reduce impacts on water resources. For this purpose, the project faces 3 main technical matters producing impacts on water: plant diseases management (impacts of pesticides), fertilisation (loss of nutrients) and irrigation. Moreover, the project aims to demonstrate that global sustainable management of the vineyards could also generate economic value throughout the certification of the commitment of farmers by mean of standards VIVA and SQNPI. These standards are converging because of an inter-ministerial initiative started in October 2017 focused on promotion and valorisation of sustainable viticulture. The technical matters proposed by the project have high innovative values. For plant protection the project will introduce improved predictive models and Decision Support Systems; for fertilisation the project will adopt new innovative concepts for soil management and new generation fertilisers; considering irrigation the project will implement IrriSmart system and the use of drought resistant rootstocks. The project is promoted by vine growers associated to the Cantina Sociale of Orsago. Partners of the project are universities (for the technical -scientific support) and consultancies with competencies on environmental matters and safety on the job.
