Characteristics and Objectives:
Forest Sciences is a 2-year Second Cycle Degree equivalent to a Master of Science. The program is designed for students with a bachelor's degree in forestry, agricultural, environmental, biological sciences, or land management. It prepares highly qualified professionals capable of managing and conserving forest and natural resources with an integrated and innovative approach, both at the national and international levels. Courses are taught in English, with some subjects or parts of them delivered exclusively online.
Forest Sciences offers two distinct specialization tracks:
Forest and Land Management, focusing on the management of productive aspects, soil protection, and water resources, with particular attention to forest ecosystem conservation through sustainable and innovative approaches.
Forest Conservation and Governance, emphasizing sustainable practices and the optimization of natural resources in the context of climate change, land-use changes, and deforestation.
Both curricula integrate scientific and technical training with elements of statistics, computer science, GIS techniques, research management and development methods, and project planning.
The learning experience is enriched by an international and multicultural environment. Students in the Forest Sciences program have the opportunity to pursue the TRANSFOR-M double degree, which allows them to complete their second year of study at a Canadian university (choosing between the University of Alberta, the University of British Columbia, and Lakehead University), obtaining a Canadian degree alongside their Italian one. The program is also linked to double-degree initiatives under Erasmus Mundus projects (GloFor, SuFoNaMa). Additionally, it collaborates with other international forestry programs and key governmental and non-governmental organizations, including EFIMed, FAO, WWF, and CIFOR.

Occupational Opportunities:
Forest Science graduates have career opportunities in public and private institutions, agencies, governmental and non-governmental organizations. They can work as planners, designers, managers, and supervisors in sustainable and responsible forest management, natural and semi-natural habitat management, land management and protection, landscape management, and the use and valorization of forest resources and ecosystem services on a national or international level. Moreover, this high-profile educational path facilitates access to basic or applied research or doctoral programs in Italy or abroad.
